Hello Kevin,

Something has completely taken over my husband's computer. He cannot open any programs, documents, etc.  There are constant popups stating the computer is infected, as well as a fake control panel.  Two of the supposed threats are called BankerFox.A or Win32/Nugel.E.  There appears to be 2 new icons on the desktop: spam003.exe and troj000.exe.

I am unable to install any of the programs listed in your tutorial.  I also cannot perform any online scans.  They are either prematurely aborted by whatever has a hold of the computer or they require a download, which is aborted as well.

You have worked magic for me before and I am hoping you can again.  I appreciate any help you can give.

Thanks for you help
Dawn

What version of Windows are you running? If it's Windows XP or Vista 32-bit, do the below:

Go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix and follow the instructions on how to install the Recovery Console and run ComboFix. Go through all the steps until posting the log part. Post the combofix log here.

If you can't run it in Normal Mode, try doing it in Safe Mode (if you don't know how, go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtutorial=61 ).
