PC is slow starting up
« on: July 28, 2010, 07:11:34 PM »
My PC has been sluggish for a while now. Not sure what it is. It took quite a while to start up today.  Can someone review my HJT log please. Any help is appreciated.

One other thing. It sometimes makes that noise you get when you your scanning your pc for viruses or when you are searching for files on your PC>

It looks like there's something running if you constantly here the hard drive working in the background even when you are not doing anything on it. Did you disable programs using msconfig? I see that it was accessed recently. If you did disable some startup programs, did the situation improve now after a restart?

Don't see much here. Most of these are just remnants left behind by some third party toolbars.

Please print the below instructions or copy them to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the order mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

Go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix and follow the instructions on how to install the Recovery Console and run ComboFix. Go through all the steps until posting the log part. Post the combofix log here.
